Firewall/Router Configuration

When you have a firewall or router, it blocks unwanted traffic to keep you safe from hackers and other unwanted things of the internet. However, it blocks a very wide spectrum of traffic. Some programs, eTomi included, need to communicate through with this traffic. However, the Firewall or Router blocks it. Then, eTomi has to use another way of communicating. This alternate method results in less search results, sources, speed and overall performance. The way you can fix this is to configure your firewall.

Configuring the Firewall or Router

Help Me Configure It - The Firewalls And Routers section of the FAQ can show you how to configure you hardware.

I Can't Configure My Firewall/Router - In eTomi, go to Tools > eTomi Settings > Internet > Connection Uncheck "I can accept incoming connections". This will result in better performance than before, but still not near as much as you would get had you been able to configure your firewall.

This is the case for some colleges or office networks, where you can't configure the firewall. It might be useful to ask if there are any open ports, or even scan for them. If you find there is an open port, configure eTomi to use it by going to Tools > eTomi Settings > Internet > Connection and entering the port in the port box.
