Troubleshoot - P2P Links

SYMPTOMS: After recently uninstalling eTomi, I receive errors when I click URI?'s/P2P Link?s such as ED2K URI's or Torrents. The Error is a Windows pop-up which says something like "Windows cannot find 'ed2k:// ...'. Make sure you typed the name correctly..."

SOLUTION: You are getting this error because eTomi set itself as the default handler for that URI type. For example, if you used eMule before eTomi, eTomi will set itself as the default handler for 'ED2K' URI's. This means when you click ED2K URI's on such sites as ShareReactor?, it will use eTomi and not eMule.

You most likely will receive these errors if you uninstall eTomi. When you uninstall eTomi, it only removes eTomi as the default handler. Those Registry keys are flushed. However, your eMule or other client may not reset those settings for you. You must do this manually. The most common way to do this is to go into the client's Options/Preferences area and reset the URI default handling settings.

To find out how to reset those settings in your client, such as eMule, please consult that client's support forum.
